About the event

Stitches Comedy with Joe Rooney(Headliner), Anna Clifford, Michael Sable, Ciaran Franco, Emman Idama(Host) and More.

Joe Rooney(Headliner)

Joe Rooney is a stand up comedian, actor, screenwriter, musician and podcaster. Although performing is his bread and butter he is currently studying a Multimedia degree course in DCU and aims to diversify into documentary and film making. In the last 20 years Joe has performed stand up comedy from Moscow to Muscat and everywhere in between. He has brought his stand up shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Glastonbury Festival and Kansas City Irish Festival as well as a host of festivals in Ireland.

Rooney is very funny, but it is with his guitar in his hands that he becomes unmissable. - The Stage ****

The intensity he puts into his singing and character acting is on another level. His act rolls along smoothly and nothing felt forced….great stand up, excellent storytelling and full of gags. - Chortle 2019 ***

He is best known for his role as Father Damo in Father Ted and his role as Timmy in the long running RTE sitcom Killinaskully. He also wrote on two seasons of Killinaskully. As an actor he has appeared in the feature films South (2016 dir. Gerard Walsh), Poster Boys (2020 Dir. Dave Minogue) and Wretch (2018 dir. Mathew Dunehoo), in the Gaeity Theatre production of John B Keane’s The Chastitute and at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in a stage version of The Shawshank Redemption. On his podcast Podarooney he has interviewed people as diverse as Aidan Gillan, Shazia Mirza and Sean Locke.

Using his guitar to embody Elvis as God or singing a traditional Irish Sean-nós song about a girl in love with a terrorist, Rooney embodies confidence and enthrals his audience. - The Skinny (2018)***

Anna Clifford

'Anna Clifford is an Irish Comedian, a natural entertainer with a strong stage presence and jokes to match. She has had audiences across the globe laughing with her relatable stories and witty observations on millennial life. Anna kicked off her comedy career while living in Vancouver, Canada since then she has been standing out against the best in the Irish and UK comedy circuit.

A Funny Women finalist, Anna made her TV stand up debut as part of “Laughter in the Eyre” RTE early in 2020 which she also presented alongside Karl Spain. She has also done work for BBC, RTE, Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe Festival, Electric Picnic, Pinterest, and the Vodafone Comedy Carnival.

Ryan Cullen

"Ryan Cullen is one of my favourite comedians. Hilarious and so dark you think  'How the f**k did he end up like this?" - Daniel Sloss (Netflix)

Ryan has become one of Ireland & the UK’s most talked about comedians in a very short space of time.   Renowned for his near the knuckle material and depraved one-liners, he was recently runner up in Irish Comedian of The Year and it has seen him making appearances on BBC Scotland’s ‘The Comedy Underground’, BBC NI’S ‘Late Licence’ as well as on RTE & MTV!

“Ryan Cullen looks unassuming .. but his clever black humour that had the crowd gasping in horror and giggling simultaneously!”  – Comedy Scoop

A festival favourite it’s seen him regularly grace the comedy stages at: Altitude Comedy Fest, The Vodafone Comedy Carnivals, Electric Picnic,  Longitude, Forbidden Fruit, ‘Indiependence and Snowbombing!

He is also a head performer on the Facts YouTube Channel boasting over 400 million views and 1.3 million subscribers & the Try Channel! (500,000 subscribers)

"REALLY good dark humour, One liners with a dark twist.. and great interactions with the crowd!”  - The Stand Glasgow

Having headlined clubs such as: The Laughter Lounge, The Stands, The International Comedy Club, The Comedy Cellar  & The Belfast Empire (To Name A Few!)

“He should be writing for Frankie Boyle or Jimmy Carr!”
- The Stand Comedy Clubs

It won’t be long before he’ll be giving the big names a RUN for their money.
